Description
The U.S. Army RDECOM - Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center, Natick, MA in support of Product Manager-Clothing and Individual Equipment utilizing utilize Simplified Acquisitions Procedures FAR 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items, has a requirement for Mountain Combat Boots for a commercial item evaluation. The US Army requires Mountain Combat Boot (MCB) for use by Soldiers in the rugged mountainous terrain of current areas of operation. Proof of concept for this need has been demonstrated by numerous inquiries by Soldiers to provide a hiking boot style footwear system incorporating new technology and materials replacing the outdated technology of the old all-leather ski-march boot. Improved technology is available to provide the Soldier with added mission capability including enhanced ankle and foot support, durability for the extreme environments realized by Soldiers in current Areas of Operation, and weight reduction. Production Demonstration Models (PDMs) shall be submitted for each submission. The government anticipates making multiple awards, but reserves the right to make one or no awards. This will be a full and open competitive award. This is not a request for proposals (RFP). The Government intends to make multiple awards on a Firm-Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract as a result of the Request for Proposals (RFP). The Government anticipates a two year ordering period. The anticipated total minimum requirement is 60 pairs with a maximum total requirement of 26,600 units. The successful offeror (s) will receive the first delivery order (DO) with the minimum quantity (if there is more than one awardee, the quantity for the first DO will be divided equally) mentioned above for the award. Comments relating to this synopsis should be submitted via email to Nathan Jordan at nathan.c.jordan@us.army.mil, no later than 13 May 2009. The Government anticipates releasing the RFP on or about 15 May 2009.
