Description

RECOVERY The General Services Administration intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Smith Group in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 to update the existing stamped drawings and specifications they previously developed for the replacement of windows at the John F Kennedy Federal Building in Boston, MA. The work was performed under contract GS-11-98MYD9912 which was awarded on a competitive basis. The work to be performed includes updating the plans and specifications previously delivered by the Smith Group for code compliance of insulation systems and replacing courtyard curtain wall systems and tower building window systems, post construction contract services and limited management and inspection services. Smith Group has the staff with historical background knowledge needed to expedite the JFK window project by updating their previous design. The plans and specifications to be developed by Smith Group will be used for a competitive construction contract which the Government expects to award on or before August 1, 2009 for the window replacement project. The anticipated award date of the design contract is May 29, 2009. While Smith Group is the only known source capable of meeting this requirement, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement that demonstrates their firm’s ability to update the existing stamped plans and specifications, accept design liability for those plans and specifications and complete the updating of the construction documents no later than 30 days prior to the construction award date stated above. Interested parties may submit rationale as to why they should be considered within seven (7) days of this notice. A determination by the Government not to proceed with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
