Specifications:The Contractor shall provide analytical evaluation of estuarine water quality samples collected within the Assateague Island National Seashore, Berlin MD and Chincoteague, VA. Samples are collected by National Park Service (NPS) field crews at 18 locations monthly throughout the year. NPS will deliver the samples. The estimated quantity of samples per fiscal year is 1944 each. The laboratory shall provide sample bottles for each sampling period. A written paper report as well as electronic format in order to follow sample custody and other QA/QC requirements. Reporting of results are required within 90 days of collection as samples have to be analyzed by the contractor within 28 days of sampling in order to follow EPA guidelines for sample storage and QA/QC. The Contractor must provide documentation that he can acquire and maintain acceptable limits of detection as noted below. The Contractor must conform to standards for water quality analysis established by the Environmental Protection Agency. These standards are required in order to provide data that can be used to make management decisions and maintain the validity of the longest continuous water quality data set for this area. Partners that rely on this information include, but are not limited to US Environmental Protection Agency, National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife, NASA, USGS, Virginia Department of Environment, Accomack County, Worcester County, Maryland Department of the Environment, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, University of Maryland, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, University of Virginia, Old Dominion University, Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and the Maryland Coastal Bays Program.
