Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled ADVANCED TOPOGRAPHIC LASERALTIMETER SYSTEM (ATLAS) which was posted on February 10, 2009. You are notified of thefollowing:NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) forthe manufacture of two (2) telescopes to meet the requirements of the AdvancedTopographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS) aboard the Ice, Cloud, and Land ElevationSatellite-II (ICESat-2). ATLAS is preceded by the Geoscience Laser Altimeter System(GLAS) aboard ICESat-I launched in 2003 and it is the second in a series to accuratelymeasure the ice thickness and temporal changes of the ice thickness in Antarctica andGreenland. These new telescopes are essentially build-to-print copies of the GLASreceiver telescope currently on orbit.The I-220-H Beryllium blocks and the assemblydrawings of the GLAS telescope will be provided by NASA.This procurement will be a full and open competition resulting in a Firm Fixed Priced(FFP) contract. Delivery of the telescopes shall be within 2.5 years after contractaward.The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about June 2009 with an anticipatedoffer due date on or about 30 days after RFP release.An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B".Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. Thesedocuments will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWWbrowser application. The Internet site, or URL, for the NASA/GSFC Business Opportunitieshome page is http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=D&pin=51 Offerors are responsible for monitoring this site for the release of the solicitation andany amendments. Potential offerors will be responsible for downloading their own copy ofthe solicitation and amendments (if any).All contractual technical questions must be submitted in writing (e-mail or fax).
