- RECOVERY ACT) The National Institute on Aging, IRP intends to negotiateand award a purchase order on a competitive basis for the purchase of a scanning system for high-resolution telomere and chromosome analysis, this is to include; Microscope Axiolmager, Scanning Platform, Computer Workstation, FISH imaging platform, Telomere Analysis Module and Color Karyotyping Module. This notice may represent the only official notice. In the lab of Genetics (LG); at the National Institute of Aging, this equipment purchase will assist IRP investigators in aging research for the maintenance of genome integrity through the regulation of telomeres and chromosome stability. This work requires the detailed and high-resolution analysis of chromosomes and telomeres in hundreds of metaphase nuclei of cells. The routine procedures, such as finding metaphase nuclei, doing color karyotyping, telomere fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), are labor intensive. The proposed system will dramatically accelerate the research programs by automating these routine procedures. The purchase of this type system will benefit at least the following four research groups at the National Institute of Aging/IRP: Minoru Ko (LG), Weidong Wang (LG), Nan-Ping Weng (LI), and Yie Liu (LMG). Interested persons may indentify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice is a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received prior to June 1, 2009 will be considered by the Federal Government.A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Federal Government.
