Description
The National Science Foundation (NSF), in conjunction with the General Services Administration (GSA), intends to hold an informational conference on May 28, 2009, from 9 AM to 12 PM at NSF headquarters, Room 110, 4201 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA. The general purpose of this conference is to hear from commercial real estate development representatives in the community regarding private sector building sustainability efforts. NSF and GSA wish to gain insight on how the commercial sector is responding to green building initiatives under the provisions of Title IV of the Energy Independence and Security Act (Public Law 110-140), and specifically to better understand how the private sector is incorporating changes to the construction of existing and new buildings as a result of this law. The following questions will be addressed: 1. What experiences from the private development community can be shared as lessons learned in building ‘green'? 2. What benefits or incentives are available or required for private developers to offer sustainable/high performance buildings to the Federal government? Any firm wishing to attend, who has the capability to develop commercial office buildings over 250,000 square feet, and has incorporated the provisions of Title IV of Public Law 110-140 into existing or new commercial office space development projects, must contact Ms. Veronica Bankins, vbankins@nsf.gov, (703) 292-7520, at NSF by close of business May 21, 2009. Due to space limitations, the NSF requests that each firm bring a maximum of 3 persons. Attendee names, including complete contact details, must be provided.
