- Questions and Answers relative to the sources sought announcement are provided below: Question 1: Are you requiring any prototype or sample vest at the industry day? Answer: No prototype or sample system is required. However, vendors are welcome to bring items to demonstrate concepts, approaches, integration features, etc. Question 2: Will the BASC ultimately be a government design? Answer: No decision has been made at this time as to whether or not the BASC will be a Government design. Question 3: Does the USMC have a requirement for stand-alone ESAPI's? If so, will the purchase of the stand-alone plates be in conjunction with the BASC? Answer: The USMC does not have a requirement for stand-alone ESAPIs. Question 4: Would a crewman ever wear the chest rig over the SAV (Soft Armor Vest)? Answer: Crewman do not wear the chest rig over the SAV. Question 5: Are seat belts or other safety restraints ever worn by crewmen in their vehicles? If so, what type of restraints are used? Answer: Yes, the tank driver is in a suspended seat and has a four piece fastener that goes around the waist and both shoulders with a quick release. Question 6: What hydration system do crewmen utilize while performing their functions in their vehicles? Answer: Hydration systems are generally not worn in the armored vehicles as they interfere with maneuverability within the vehicle. They are generally set-aside near the crewman's position for easy access.
