- CFTC intends to award a sole source contract under Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Albert Kyle, Smith Chair Professor of Finance, Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. The anticipated award date is June 1, 2009. Professor Kyle will conduct economic research on trading and market making in electronic markets. His research will involve mathematical modeling of trading in electronic markets, including topics such as market making and liquidity provision, price volatility, and the informational content of market prices. Professor Kyle is one of the founders of research on theoretical market microstructure. After obtaining an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Davidson College and studying economics at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, Prof. Kyle received his PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago. Before joining the faculty at the University of Maryland, he was a professor at Princeton University, the University of California at Berkeley, and Duke University. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and a board member of the American Finance Association. He served as a staff member of the Presidential Task Force on Market Mechanisms (Brady Commission) after the stock market crash of 1987 and is a currently a member of NASDAQ's economic advisory board. This notice is not a request for offers and no solicitation is available. Interested parties may respond in writing within 10 days of the date this notice is posted. However, such responses will be used solely to determine whether a competitive solicitation should be issued and will not be the basis for an award. Telephone calls will not be accepted.
