- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to procure services of Banner Health, 1441 N 12th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85006-2837 to perform fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) computer tomographic (CT) scans as part of the IRB approved protocol entitled STUDY OF SHORT-TERM METABOLIC ADAPTATION: PREDICTION OF WEIGHT CHANGE AND EFFECTS OF MACRONUTIENT MANIPULATIONS. The vendor will perform fluorodeoxyglycose (FDG) position emission tomography (PET) plus computer tomography (CT) at the Banner Health PET center. The above entitled protocol involves use of these PET-CT scans to evaluate the presence of brown adipose tissue and its activation with cold and overfeeding. As part of this protocol, we plan to measure whether brown fat is activated during overfeeding. This will be done by performing PET scans at the Banner PET center as part of this protocol. The contractor must be located in a reasonable distance in order to easily travel to the NIH Campus in Phoenix, Arizona. To the best of the Governments knowledge Banner Health is the only know vendor who specializes in fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) computer tomographic (CT) scans and is qualified for this task.
