- This Amendment No. 01 shall be incorporated in the Solicitation dated 5/4/2009 and shall be included as part of the contract. The offer due date is extended to Tuesday, June 2, 2009 @ 4:00 p.m. (PST) QUESTION 1) Please provide weights of the equipment included under this scope for sizing of springs, and compression for the rubber isolation pads. Units are tagged: AC-329, EF-329, M3-81, Air handler and return air fans tagged D, G, H, J & 9 as well as the indoor air handler that does not currently have an identification tag. ANSWER 1) Weight of the equipment and compression specification is not available. Please use your best judgment to estimate the weight of the units. QUESTION 2) What is the recommended deflection for the spring isolation? ANSWER 2) Because of the number of factors involved and the variations between the units, factor in the worst-case scenario when determining cost for the spring isolation in your proposal. QUESTION 3) Is all work to be upgraded to current seismic codes? ANSWER 3) Yes, provide seismic upgrades to meet current applicable codes. QUESTION 4) Can work begin Friday after 6:00 p.m.? ANSWER 4) It is likely that we can accommodate your request to begin work on Friday night, given that building operations will not be disrupted. A work schedule must be submitted and approved by the contracting officer before start of work. QUESTION 5) What are the hours in which the equipment is off? ANSWER 5) Equipment will be off from Friday 5:00PM through Monday 5:00AM. QUESTION 6) In areas where access is limited, can a stitch weld be a substitute for using a through bolt? ANSWER 6) An alternative method of securing may be used upon approval. However, it is preferred that a bolt be used wherever possible. QUESTION 7) I would like to know the composition of the 4th floor, if it's possible, I would like to use hydraulic jacks to support the unit when the pads will be removed. ANSWER 7) We have a three layer built-up composition roof. The hydraulic jacks should not be an issue, providing that you use at minimum ¾” plywood underneath jacks for weight distribution. QUESTION 8) I would like to know the weight of each units if it’s available in your data. ANSWER 8) See Answer 1. Information is not available. Please use your best judgment to estimate the weight of the units. QUESTION 9) Do you have particular request for the brand name and properties for all isolators? ANSWER 9) There is no particular request for a brand. Isolators should be sufficient to handle load and vibration of the air handlers. QUESTION 10) Do you need the manufacture specifications in the bid package? ANSWER 10) No, manufacturer’s specifications will be required for review and approval after award. QUESTION 11) Who will shut down the units before starting the work? Do we need to add this process to our bid? ANSWER 11) Units will be shut down by the building’s operation and maintenance crew. This process should not be included in your bid. QUESTION 12) How many hours we are allowed to work each day? ANSWER 12) Work can be performed anytime on Saturday and Sunday after work schedule is approved by the contracting officer. Number of hours worked each day should comply with applicable labor laws. QUESTION 13) When I read the Specs I saw: 8 week ends to do the job, so it's 51 days and 7 days to begin the job after receiving the notice to proceed. So the total is 58 days. But on solicitation it much less, can you tell us what is right? ANSWER 13) Work to be completed within 51 calendar days after receiving notice to proceed. QUESTION 14) I would like to know if it will be possible to have a parking for at least one small truck. It will be week end work, free of traffic. ANSWER 14) Space at the loading dock is limited and is available on a first come, first serve basis. However, there is usually parking readily available during the weekends. QUESTION 15) Do you need a bond for this work? ANSWER 15) Yes, bonding is required for this work. QUESTION 16) Which trade is used in labor? Sheet metal ANSWER 16) Yes, Sheet metal. (or applicable) QUESTION 17) Are the current isolators seismic? Air Handlers seismic? ANSWER 17) Current isolators and air handlers are not seismic. Upgrade isolators to meet current applicable seismic codes.
