Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR FABRICATEDERECTOR SET. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This noticeserves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will notbe issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions posed.1.The quotes are due June 4, 2:30 PM and the parts are due June 15. That is only 11days. How many of those days will it take to make the award? a.The delivery date will be revised to July 15, 20092.We note in the solicitation that Items 6, 9, 10, 11 and 14 have been left out. Was this intentional or is something missing from the solicitation?a.Nothing missing. Parts not needed.3.Has NASA ever ordered any of these Erector Set parts with this hole and/or slotpattern? If so, please provide details of that award?a.Yes. The last set was fabricated in the 1960s. No information found.4.I am having trouble determining from your solicitation where the completed itemsare to be shipped. Please clarifya. Please Ship to NASA-Dryden Flight Research Center, Building 4876, Warehouse #6,Edwards, CA 935245.Standard packaging and shipping is acceptablea.Yes6.Channels are FOB Origin or Destinationa.RFQ requests all items be FOB Destination.7.The drawing calls for powder coat and prepare surfaces for outdoor storage. Please elaborate on what is an acceptable preparation for outdoor storage. If we use apowder coat that is rated for outdoor use, is that sufficient to meet the outdoorstorage spec? If not, will shrink wrapping of the parts be sufficient? a.Clean per best painting practices and powder coat Med Gray.8.Since "Medium Gray" is the only callout for the color of the powder coat, is anymedium gray color acceptable?a.Yes9.Would customer accept epoxy coating rather than powder coat? Or is powder coat ahard requirement?a.Powder coast is a hard requirement.10.Is this hole and/or slot pattern already available in C channels such that we canjust buy the channels and simply cut them to length? a.To our knowledge, the hole/slot pattern is not already available.11.I need to know the WEB THICKNESS, FLANGE THICKNESS/WIDTH, and if possibleWEIGHT/FT. to properly quote the right channel for this solicitation # NND09204576Q.a.USE industrial standard for C channel. First call out is the overall heightand the second is the weight per foot.12.I am confused with the tolerance to use? The holes have both 3 place decimal aswell as fraction, the slots have 3 place decimal dimensions, and it will be expensive tohold +/-.001 especially on the A-36 channels. Is the tolerance required as specified?a.Go by the decimal dimension and the associated tolerances.13.As a few of the pieces are quite long for a waterjet, is it acceptable tofabricate the longer pieces in two parts and weld them together?a.No cutting and welding of parts is acceptable.14.Note 1 on the provided drawing calls out typical slot cutout every 12 inches. The drawing shows that the first slot cutout is centered 12" from one end. On either a30" length or a 42" length, you are going to be left with one end having 6" from the slotcenter to the end of the plate. Is this the intention or are slots to be located so thatthey are on 12" centers from each other and equidistant from either end?a.Omit slot if it intrudes on the last set of holes. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 5/20/2009 Documents related to this procurementare available over the Internet.
