Description
This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bids to obtain dredging services for the "BURNS NIPSCO CHANNEL DREDGING" for FY09. The project site is located in Portage, Indiana. PROJECT INFORMATION: Under the contract set, the Contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary facilities, plants, labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to perform dredging services to remove 150,000 cubic yards (cu. yd.) of littoral drift sand, with an option to go to 225,000 cubic yards (cu. yd.), from around the NIPSCO Bailey Station water intake. Disposal of the material will take place on the beach or just off-shore of Ogden Dunes. Sand will be removed down to -20' Low Water Datum (LWD) with 1' of overdepth allowed. Exact location of the dredging will be determined by pre-dredge survey. ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED to HUBZone small business concerns. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 237990 with a small business size standard of $33.5M. The magnitude of cost for this construction project is estimated between $1M and $5M. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Bidders can download the IFB Package from the Internet Site http://www.fedteds.gov. The IFB will be available at the above-mentioned Internet site on or about 29 MAY 2009. The due date for bids will be on or about 7 JULY 2009 at 2:00 pm CDT. In order for contractors to conduct business with the Department of Defense, the contractor must provide registration information to the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). Contractors can access the CCR for free at http//www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price construction contract from this acquisition.
