- Description
- The Contractor shall furnish all necessary labor, supervision, inspection, materials, supplies, parts, tools, equipment, and vehicles required for investigative drilling of exploratory Core Boring (ECP) to locate and define the size of probable voids in the foundation of Joe Hardin Dam (Arkansas River Dam #3). The construction will consist of drilling pilot holes (ECP) through the 4 thick stilling basin floor, spaced 65 apart initially so as to determine the presence of the void laterally along the dam, and to determine if any conflict will occur in placing larger diameter bores that may be used for better inspection for voids and/or as injection portals for placing fill into the voids. Work to include but not limited to conducting Conflict Camera Inspection (CCI) via small diameter underwater camera inserted through each pilot bore to determine possible conflict with stilling basin floor concrete embedded items, wood piling and piling head reinforcement, piping, or joints and water stops, and place exploratory borings if voids are found. Based on void detection, intermediate borings will be drilled along the centerline of the initial borings, at 35 feet spacing to obtain more detailed knowledge of the void size and its cause, and to install portals at close enough spacing to assure that remediation infill materials can be injected uniformly and then vibrated to flow thoroughly into the foundation. This project work will proceed incrementally to determine extent of damage along the dam. A possible additive item of work will be to install flexible stainless steel secondary relief well filers in manholes to stabilize the existing pressure relief system which may be damaged sufficiently to allow foundation soil to still be escaping under normal operation. Another possible additive will be installation of new pressure relief system slide gate valves. Work shall be performed in strict accordance with with all the terms, conditions, technical specification, drawings, attachments, appendices, Exhibits, etc., contained in the specifications. Quantity (1 JOB) - F.O.B. Destination, Arkansas River Dam No. 3, McClellan-Kerr Navigation System at river mile 50.2 near Swan Lake, and Pine Bluff, AR Jefferson and Lincoln counties. Solicitation W9127S 09-B-0024 to be issued o/a 17 June 2009 with closing a/o 17 July 2009.
