Description
This modification pertains to and provides updated information regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Denver Replacement Medical Center, Office of Construction and Facilities Management (CFM) Industry Day Forum as follows: (1) Event Location and Telephone Number/Fax: Denver Marriott City Center, 1701 California Street, Denver, CO 80202; Telephone: 303-297-1300; Fax 303-298-7474 (2) Event Dates and Times: Forum, Monday, June 8, 2009 from 1:00 pm MDT through 3:00 pm MDT Discussion Groups: June 8, 2009 from 3:30 pm MDT through 6:30 pm MDT Discussion Groups: Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 8:00 am MDT through 12:00 MDT (3) Project Description: The Department of Veterans (VA) will build a replacement hospital on the eastern edge of the University of Colorado Health and Science Campus (formally the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center) in Aurora, Colorado. (4) Key Components of the Project: Inpatient bed facility for approximately 150 beds (spinal cord injury, medical/surgical, intensive care and behavioral health) Freestanding Community Living Center and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Unit (54 beds) Outpatient Clinics Diagnostic and Treatment Center Research Laboratories Renovation of an existing office building for administrative offices and behavioralhealth clinics Below grade patient parking for approximately 1,000 cars Staff parking deck for approximately 1,000 cars Central concourse for public functions, amenities, and circulation Central Energy/Utility Plant Materials receiving facility Advanced alternative energy features and sustainable design (5) Project Schedule: The architectural/engineering design team is currently in the schematic design phase, with completion of this phase scheduled for September 2009. Several bid packages are anticipated with the first scheduled to be available in early Spring 2010. Construction of the entire project is targeted to be complete in September 2013. (6) Construction Management: The VA will be utilizing a new delivery method for this project called Integrated Design and Construct (IDc). IDc is similar in nature to Construction Management, Constructor (CMc) or Construction Management @ Risk (CM@Risk). IDc is intended to be onboard early in the design phase to bring CM knowledge and expertise to the process.
