Description
Materials Safety Data Sheet for Crude Glycerin Modification #001 Responses to questions submitted on 5/26/09. 1. Is there a rail site near the plant so shipments can be delivered by rail? Yes, there is a Union Pacific rail line within 100 yards of the plant. However, there is storage at the Nogales plant for less than 15,000 gallons. The plant will take deliveries in the range of 6,500 to 12,000 gallons at a time. Any rail car storage issue will be between vendor and Union Pacific. Vendor would still be required to unload and deliver product via truck. 2. Are you currently purchasing carbon? IBWC is not purchasing glycerin at this time. It is being purchased by the construction manager as part of the Nogales plant start agreement. Once the facility is under IBWC's control, the agency will be required to provide the glycerin with agency funds. 3. Is this a new requirement? Yes, this is a new requirement for the new Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant to be completed on or about 6/23/09. Modification #002 Responses to questions submitted on 5/27/09. 4. In reference to question #2 above, please advise from whom the plant manager is purchasing material, price per gl paid and FOB terms. Since this is currently not our contract to purchase product, we are unable to provide information. 5. Do you use any activated carbon in your wastewater treatment process? I was reading through the bid document and only saw glycerin and corn syrup. No we do not use activated carbon. We had looked at it as a possible source but the expense was too great. Also we are limited by the equipment we have to use glycerin or corn syrup. Any other carbon source would require us to invest quite substantially in infrastructure to support it (this rules out methanol, ethanol etc.). Modification #003 6. Would you be able to provide specifications on glycerin? The Materials Safety Data Sheet is attached. 7. Does the crude glycerin need to be packaged in a tote or does it need to be in drums? The glycerin needs to be delivered by tanker, 5,000 gallons at a time.
