- Description
- RECOVERY--RECOVERY--The project consists of improvement of the existing south levee within the Santa Maria levee system. The south levee improvement project includes two (2) reaches extending about 3.25 miles from Suey Crossing Bridge to the Blosser Road. Levee improvement consists of construction of an 8-ft wide and about 30-ft deep compacted soil cement section along the entire levee riverward side slope of both reaches. Construction of the compacted soil cement requires excavation of the existing ground to the depth of approximately 15ft to 20ft below the existing grade. Construction also calls for removal of 3.25 miles long existing bikeway rail and installation of the new one. Removal, disposal and installation of the levee signs, fences and gates are also needed for levee improvement. Resurfacing the existing 14wide ABC levee road with new 3 thick ABC is necessary for operation and maintenance. Three riverward invert access ramps for both reaches will be modified to satisfy the improved levee. There is an existing 3-cell (7x4) Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB) and a 48 Dia. Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) culverts that need to be extended and included with the new outlet structures. Stone work consists of removal of existing 34 rock groins and 3 soil cement groins and stockpile the removed material at a designated area.
