- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 applies. The applicable Request for Proposal (RFP) number is M67854-09-R-3036. The North American Industrial Classification System Code (NAICS) is 423910 - Skiing equipment and supplies merchant wholesalers with a size standard of 500 employees. This RFP incorporates provisions and clauses that are in effect through FAR Circular 2005-32 effective May 14, 2009 and DFARS change notice 20090115. MARCORSYSCOM has a requirement for the following: CLIN 0001 - 2,250 pair adjustable, two piece, lightweight aluminum Ski Poles for use by the United States Marine Corps, Leki Haute Route Torque Lock Ski Pole or equal. The ski poles will be used with both the Marine Corps Ski System and the Marine Corps Snowshoe (Denali MSR Snowshoe). The ski po! les shall allow a 250 pound combat loaded Marine the capability to balance him or her self as they maneuver on skis or snowshoes, through various snowy and ice terrains. The ski pole shall be of quality construction to allow a fallen Marine the use of either one or both ski poles as leverage to return to a standing position. The ski poles shall be easily adjustable by skiers wearing gloves. The Ski Poles shall be compatible with other components of the Marine Corps Cross Country Ski System: skis, ski boot, and ski bindings. Salient characteristics include: (1) adjustable, two piece aluminum poles to provide support and stability while used for skiing, backpacking, or snowshoe movements; (2) shall be made of a minimum, 7000 series aircraft aluminum with 1mm thick wall; shall be adjustable to a length of 155cm; (3) shall have two baskets provided: one for powder and a second one for hard pack; (4) handles shall be constructed of rubber to help reduce cold hands; (5) must b! e able to perform their intended functions in temperatures down to -40 degrees F; (6) construction shall be no less than 18mm diameter at the top of the pole and no less than 16mm diameter at the bottom of the pole; (7) ski poles shall have an easy lock expander system and double locking torque lock to reduce slippage; (8) and the color of the ski poles shall be a snow camouflage pattern and not have a shiny finish.
