- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for a Pulsed Neutron Generator (PNG) to be used in thePNG-GRAND planetary geochemistry instrumentation development program.Pulsed Neutron Generator with the following key characteristics:(one each)- accelerator head with neutron tube and integral high-voltage power supply;- one digital controller board and one pulser board in electronics enclosure;- four (4) interconnect cables, 12 inches long each; - flashing read safety lamp and 50-foot connecting cable; - serial communications cable, 50 feet long; - one documentation CD with: Control software for GUI or HyperTerminal control User Manual Technical Bulletins on shielding considerations, periodic operation requirements, SF6 fill and vent guidelines. one day of in-factory training.Key requirements for this item may be found in the attachment.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the item(s) from the Thermo MF Physics Corporation pursuantto FAR 13.106, for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonablyavailable from only one source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. EasternStandard Time on the date specified above. Such capabilities/qualifications will beevaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct thisprocurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to competethis proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to thisnotice, is solely within the discretion of the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
