Description
Provide design, engineering and construction of a man lift and emergency retrieval system to allow for the safe entry and exit of the draft tube area of the turbine located at the Jones Bluff (Selma, AL) and Millers Ferry (Camden, AL) US Army, Corps of Engineers Powerhouses. This solicitation is for one (1) system to be used at two (2) powerhouses. Access dimensions, 36"x24", are the same at both powerhouses. Contractor will be responsible for verifying all dimensions. The contractor will supply, install and demonstrate an approved air motor entry lift and retrieval device for accessing the draft tube area of the powerhouse. The lift must be capable of safe entry to a level of forty two (42) feet below the entry door. The lift is shall have capacity for two persons with a maximum gross load limit of not less than eight hundred (800) pounds. The source of energy to operate the lift shall be supplied by air operating off of the station air system which is 100 PSI. Suitable connections for this supply are located around the draft tube door entrance. Contractor will supply any mounting devices that are required for the operation of this lift system. Contractor shall install and certify any required anchors necessary for use of the system. In addition to the lift, the contractor shall supply, install, and demonstrate an approved mechanism for emergency retrieval of personnel from the confined area. All work must meet OSHA requirements in addition to the current edition of the US Army, Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual, EM 385-1-1, 15. All work and equipment furnished will carry a minimum of a one year warranty. Maintenance recommendations and parts manuals shall be supplied for the specified lift. Operation Data: The contractor will be required to supply operation data which will include: specific operating instructions, functional description of operating parts, and special precautions to be considered. The Contractor shall be responsible for the necessary coordination between his subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers to assure complete submittals on individual interrelated equipment components. Maintenance Data: The contractor will be required to supply maintenance data which will include instructions for dismantling, assembly, repair, and adjustment; parts catalogs, and elementary and connection diagrams. A schedule of periodic maintenance and inspection procedures required in order to remain compliant with applicable OSHA standards shall also be supplied. Any testing or recertification requirements shall be outlined in the schedule. One copy of the above data shall be furnished in electronic format to the owner. Training: The contractor will install and demonstrate the setup, inspection, and operation of the lift. The demonstration will take place up to one year after delivery of the equipment should access to the place of intended use not be accessible.
