Description
The contractor shall provide Architectural & Engineering design services necessary to provide construction documents, drawings and specifications, for the construction of a second Data Center in the western U.S. as part of the plan to provide for a modern and redundant facility to support the Department of State computing and Information Technology needs. The current Beltsville Information Management Center (BIMC), along with the data center at the State Department’s Harry S Truman (HST) building provide processing and storage for the Department’s Enterprise Level Computer Systems. Buildings at BIMC and HST are repurposed mainframe structures with the power systems that are highly inefficient that will no longer support growth. The purpose of this project is to provide a second redundant data center site. The Enterprise Server Operations Center (ESOC) program supports consolidated data center and server management for both classified and unclassified computing. Centralization of the Department’s domestic data centers through the Data Center Consolidation (DCC) program is an extension of the ESOC. These two programs together support many critical Department systems such as SMART, Visa, Passport, Blackberry, eMail, ONE (Remote Access) and IT Desktop Consolidation Support Servers.
