- Description
- The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Laboratory of Infectious Diseases (LID), is seeking small business sources that can provide a freezer repository to support the scientific mission of the LID. The successful contractor will be required to provide off-site storage, maintenance, monitoring, and pick-up and delivery of biological specimens to and from the NIAID LID in Bethesda, MD. Support will be required for up to 120 ultra-low temperature freezers (-80°C) (approximately 60 chest freezers and 60 upright freezers), up to 20 freezers which LID can rent from the contractor, 20 cubic feet of liquid nitrogen storage, and 20 cubic feet of -20°C to -40°C storage containing biomedical research specimens. LID will also require approximately 200 cubic feet of ambient storage (15°C to 30°C) for biomedical research specimens preserved in formalin and paraffin. The current LID freezer repository maintains approximately 112 (-80°C) freezers (approximately 56 chest freezers and 56 upright freezers), (1) walk-in (-20°C to -40°C) freezer at about 20 cu ft, (1) 17-cubic foot liquid nitrogen freezer (-130°C to -196°C), storage for approximately 20 boxes in liquid nitrogen (-130°C to -196°C), ambient (15°C to 30°C) storage for 3 government-owned lockers, and 20 shelves' worth of ambient storage at about 10 cubic feet per shelf. These items will be transferred, as necessary, as government furnished property to the successful offeror. Any necessary equipment transfers will be the responsibility of the successful offeror. The successful contractor will be responsible for providing all other necessary facilities, equipment, and personnel to complete all aspects of the statement of work. All small businesses including veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, and women-owned small business concerns should respond with a capability statement, of no more than 10 pages, by June 16, 2009 at 11:00AM EDT. Capability statements must reference similar work that has been performed by the contractor and the dollar value of that work. Respondents should specifically describe their available facilities, including safety and security features of the facilities. This is a market survey, not a request for proposals. All questions must be directed, in writing, to Michele Pearlman at pearlmanm@niaid.nih.gov
