Description
TITLE: REFURBISHMENT OF ODI VEHICLE The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will furnish one 1973 Chevrolet Impala with all orgininal sheet metal intact in running condition. The contractor will tow the vehicle from DOT Headquarters to its facility and refurbish according to the following specifications: Period of Performance: To be completed by 9/30/2009 Specifications for Restoration of 1973 Impala Office of Defects Investigation Outreach Vehicle Body Vehicle stripped and refinished according to approved design. factory identification emblems removed and filled. Remove and fill any trim that intersects approved graphics. All remaining trim polished or powder coated. Shaved door handles with remote actuators for front doors. Underbody degreased, primed and painted chassis black. Wheelwells blasted and recoated. Bumpers and any visible attaching hardware re-chromed. New windshield and rear glass gaskets installed. New weather strip installed. New isolator bushings installed. Interior Replace carpet (black) and add sound deadener. Replace headliner. Replace or recolor door panels in black. Aftermarket steering wheel (black). New front bucket seats (Recaro or approved equivalent). *(Please identify Brand Name and Part Number being quoted) Reupholster rear seat to match front. Glovebox-mounted CD player/amplifier w/ 6 new speakers. Drive train Replace engine (GM 350 V8, aluminum heads, 9:1 CR, ~325HP,~380 lb-ft torque, to be approved). Replace transmission and torque converter (GM 700R4 and converter selection to be approved). Remote transmission cooler. Change housing ends to Big Ford and replace axles to 2.36" offset. New driveshaft w/heavy duty joints. Recalibrate speedometer. New high strength axles with 4.5” and/or 4.75” bolt pattern (Moser custom or approved equivalent).*(*Please identift Brand Name and Part Number beng quoted) Brakes Replace all brake hard lines. New braided stainless front brake lines (if not in kit). New front disc brake kit (Baer brake systems or approved equivalent). New rear disc brake kit (Baer brake systems or approved equivalent). *(Please identify Brand Name and Part Number being quoted) New disc/disc master cylinder. Suspension and Steering Change front bolt pattern to 4.5” and/or 4.75” (must match rear). New front coil springs. New rear coil springs. New front shocks. New rear shocks. Replace all control arm bushings. Control arms degreased, blasted and powder coated silver. Replace all steering joints. Alignment with simulated 175lb weight in driver seat. Lowered stance. Aftermarket 20” wheels and tires. (Foose Nitrous or approved equivalent). *(Please identify Brand Name and Part Number being quoted) Miscellaneous Aftermarket aluminum radiator. Electric thermostatically controlled cooling fan(s). Serpentine drive belt (optional). New power steering pump and braided hoses. Aftermarket electronic ignition (Davis Unified Ignition or approved equivalent). Hi amperage (min. 100A) alternator. Trunk mounted video monitor with custom swivel mount (min 42”). Dual batteries with 1000W dc to ac inverter (Optima Yellow Top or approved equivalent). Electric fuel pump with insulated fuel line. Ram air box w/fresh air tubes. Ceramic coated headers with aluminized dual exhaust, x-pipe, (Edelbrock stainless mufflers or approved equivalent). New A/C compressor, flush, evacuate and recharge with R-12 replacement refrigerant. New orifice tube. Remote controlled security system with ignition/fuel cutout. *(Please identify Brand Name and Part Number being quoted)
