Description
AMENDMENT 0001 TO SOLICITATION W25G1V-09-R-0021 The purpose of this amendment 0001 to solicitation W25G1V-09-R-0021, is to answer offeror questions, to provide additional detail of the transfer/molding application, to provide additional detail on control requirements, and to extend the response date of the solicitation. 1) Offeror's questions received with the Government Responses: Q1) Question: Are there drawings or pictures of the equipment? A1) Answer: There are no drawings or pictures of the equipment. Q2) Question: Is there any cooling operation for the presses? A2) Answer: There are no cooling requirements for the rubber molding process that will be performed with the machines. The vendor is responsible to provide any cooling requirements for machine operation. Q3) Question: What is the targeted transfer press footprint? A3) Answer: Reference solicitation paragraph 3.1.8. The transfer press shall not require a foot print greater than 48 wide by 60 deep. Q4) Question: What is the required press cycle time? A4) Answer: Reference solicitation paragraph 3.2.3, the press cycle time is addressed in terms of speed in Inches Per Minute (IPM). Q5) Question: Is the press stroke equal for all 6 presses? A5) Answer: Reference solicitation paragraph 3.2.2, 17 stroke. Yes, all the 6 presses shall be the same. Q6) Question: What is the number of hydraulic power units required? A6) Answer: Each press shall have the necessary hydraulic power unit or units to operate Independently of each other. It is the vendors responsibility how to accomplish this requirement. Q7) Question: Must each unit be self contained with its own controls and hydraulic unit? A7) Answer: Yes, each press shall be self contained and operate independently. Centralized hydraulics and controls are not acceptable. Q8) Question: What is the size, and number of T-slots per platen? A8) Answer: Platens shall have a minimum of three (3) each T-slots running left to right and three (3) each T-slots running front to rear in each platen. 2) Reference solicitation paragraph 2. Application. ADD: The presses will be used for molding cable connectors and cable/wiring harnesses, which protrude from the mold, and cable is generally coiled near the base of the machine. Vacuum capability is not a requirement for the presses. A transfer press uses hydraulic pressure to hold a mold closed and then a secondary ram is used to force neoprene rubber into the mold taking the shape of the mold cavity. Offeror questions received with the Government Responses: Q1) Is there more detail on the transfer operation? A1) Reference solicitation paragraph 2. Application, per this amendment paragraph 2. Q2) Is vacuum capability a feature to be considered? A2) Reference solicitation paragraph 2. Application, per this amendment paragraph 2. 3) Reference solicitation paragraph 3.3.1 Controls/Indicators: ADD: The PLC based programmable controls may supersede Watlow temperature controls, DAM and manual flow control valves as long as there is a means to operate the press in a somewhat manual mode without going through a complete programming session. The pressure gauges shall remain to provide for quick visual reference. Vendor shall describe how machine can be operated for both prototype one time jobs without a recipe/program or repeat runs using recipes/programs. Offeror questions received with the Government Responses: Q1) Control requirements listed in 3.3.1 and 3.3.2-3.2.6 contradict each other on some points, please advise. A1) Reference solicitation paragraph 3.3.1. Controls/Indicators, per this amendment paragraph 3. 4) RESPONSE DATE IS CHANGED FROM 4:00 PM LOCAL JUNE 11, 2009 TO: 4:00 PM LOCAL JUNE 16, 2009. All OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS REMAIN THE SAME.
