Description
DESCRIPTION: THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT, FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. This announcement is applicable to companies doing business in foreign friendly countries. Navy uses N-Class fire resistant divisions to limit fire spread between ship boundaries. For steel or aluminum construction, N-30 fire insulation is used on bulkheads and overheads to prevent fire spread to adjacent compartments. LCS ship (aluminum) uses over 100 tons of fire, fire thermal, and fire acoustic insulation. Navy currently uses high temperature amorphous fiber based fire insulation blanket in accordance with MIL-PRF-32161. It has been approved as restricted N-30 system (aluminum) at an areal weight of 1.5 lbs/sq ft. Modular panelized lighter weight and lower cost materials/systems are sought. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PEO Ships seeks information as to potential qualified commercial sources with specific products, experience and expertise to provide a Non-Developmental Ite! m (NDI) N-30 Fire insulation materials/systems. The N-30 Fire insulation materials/systems will have applicability to the DDG 1000 (U.S. Navy's newest destroyer) and LCS (Littoral Combat Ship) Class Surface ships. N-30 Fire insulation materials/systems shall comply with all requirements in accordance with MIL-PRF-32161 and MIL-STD 3020. Candidate systems will be evaluated by the Government for their potential to pass the shock test (with penetrations) prior to fire resistance test IAW MIL-STD-3020 and MIL-PRF-32161. The insulation material/system shall pass the full scale fire test (N-30, steel) IAW MIL-STD-3020. The insulation material/system shall be non combustible IAW ISO 1182 and pass the other surface flammability, physical and shipboard durability tests IAW MIL-PRF-32161 and as required by the NTA. The Contractor will be required to identify to the Government all Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/NDI components, their functionality, and provide copies of license agreem! ents related to use of these components. Responsible sources should demonstrate proven experience in integrating, fielding and supporting advanced material systems. The Contractor shall provide availability, reliability and maintainability data for the NDI offering, as well as the number of units currently in production and/or fielded. The Contractor will be required to identify to the Government all Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/NDI components, their functionality, and provide copies of license agreements related to use of these components. Interested sources are requested to provide unclassified company literature and/or provide a capability summary not to exceed 30 pages in length describing their relevant corporate experience in providing similar functions as described above. RESPONSES SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: Company name; Address; Point of Contact; Phone Number; E-mail address; and Level of Facility clearance. All information submitted in response to this synopsis shall be received on or before 29 Aug 09. The Government may not respond to any specific questions or comments submitted in response to this sources sought synopsis or information provided as a result of this sources sought synopsis. Any information submitted by respondents is strictly voluntary. This sources sought synopsis is for information planning purposes and the Government will not pay or otherwise reimburse respondents for information submitted. All documentation shall become the property of the Government. The Government is not soliciting, nor will it accept proposals as a result of this sources sought synopsis. This sources sought synopsis is a market research tool being used to determine the existence of qualified experienced sources. All firms responding to this not! ice are advised that their response to this notice is not a request to be considered for a contract award. If a solicitation is issued, it will be announced later via NECO/FedBizopps and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the response to this sources sought synopsis. Response to this notice is not a request to be added to a bidders list or to receive a copy of a solicitation. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT SOLELY ON THE BASIS OF THIS SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS.
