- A Market Survey is being conducted to determine if there are adequate Small Business, HUBZone, 8(a), or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business contractors for the following proposed project: Construction of a Miter Gate Assembly/Storage Pier for Markland Lock. Work under this contract will be performed at the Markland Locks and Dam located on the Ohio River at mile 531.5, in Gallatin County, KY. The project consists of construction of a reinforced concrete pier on the land side wall of the 600 foot auxiliary lock. The pier includes interior stairs for access to the top and miscellaneous embedded metals. The pier is 18 x 32 with 3-6 thick walls and is 66 tall. It will be constructed on top of an existing lock monolith. Contract duration is 426 calendar days and estimated cost range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. NAICS code is 237990. Size limitation is $33.5M. All interested Small Business, HUBZone, 8(a), or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business contractors should notify this office in writing by mail on or before 19 June 2009 by 10:00 am Eastern Standard Time. Responses should include: (1) Identification or verification of the company by the Small Business Administration, as either a certified HUBZone, certified 8(a), or Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business, or a Small Business, (2) The level of performance and payment bonding capacity that the company could attain for the proposed project, (3) Past Experience-Provide descriptions of projects substantially complete or completed within the last five years which are similar to this project in size, scope and dollar value. Projects considered similar include familiarity with lock and dam construction, installation/placement of reinforcing steel, concrete and formwork for vertical construction is required. At least five years experience with marine type construction is preferred. With each project experience provided, include the date when the project was completed or will be complete, location of the project, contract amount and size of the project, the portion and percentage of work that was self performed, and a description of how the experience relates to the proposed project.
