College Bound Selection Service is an integral part of the institutions's recruiting strategy. By selecting from over 20 criteria (see the following list) and more than 270 variables, the institution is able to significantly increase the pool of prospective cadet candidates: Name and Address E-Mail address Gender Graduation Year Date of Birth Parent's First Name Grade Point Average Level of Courses Taken Type of College the Student Plans to Attend Denominational College/University College Specialties Career Interest / Intended Major Sports / Activities Participation Ethnic Background Religious Affiliation Language Spoken in the Household Military Preference Computer Ownership Housing Preference Income Telephone Number Geographical Selections (State, County, SCF, Zip Code) Cross Section (Nth) Interest in Receiving Financial Aid Information The only apparent source for purchase of this specific information is CBSS. This information is received through nationally administered surveys. Since the USAF Academy must, by law, enroll students from the entire country, this is the best product available to reach all segments of the US population. There is, to our knowledge, no other company that asks the questions on student surveys that CBSS does. The names are purchased based on the answers to the questions.
