Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce On Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. Request For Proposal (RFP) number is N6660409-R-3975 and is expected to be released on or about 29 June 2009. NUWC Division Newport intends to award a firm fixed price contract on a sole source basis to Yardney Techncial Products for the following: Ten (10) each Yardney P/N LP34340 Battery Modules. Delivery to NUWC Division Newport, RI 260 days after award. The basis for the sole source is that Yardney's rechargeable cell geometry is currently built into the NUWC Light prototype torpedo. An exact physical match is required to support seamless integration into existing systems. This battery must be identical from a physical interface perspective and in materials used for construction (important for Navy Lithium Battery Safety Approval). The current vehicles are fully configured to interface with the Yardney design, which has already been demonstrated as effective through testing. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received by the closing date will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. for information onthis acquisition, please contact Adam Tuchman at 401.832.1909, adam.tuchman@navy.mil.
