Description
NASA/DFRC has a requirement for qty 2 King Air Engine Upgrades. The NationalAeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) operate a Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraftfor flight research and mission support. Aircraft N801NA is stationed at NASAs DrydenFlight Research Center (DFRC) at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. It servesas a test bed for various research projects, and is also flown for a range of missionsupport activities. The current engines are two United Aircraft of Canada PT6A-42 turboprop engines rated at850 shaft horse power (SHP) driving three-blade constant-speed full-feathering reversiblepropellers.1.0 Aircraft InformationAircraft Type: Beechcraft King Air B200Engine Type: United Aircraft of Canada PT6A-42Tail Number: N801NASerial number: 801Location: Dryden Flight Research CenterAircraft Flight Time, Total Time:Service ceiling: 32,800 feetMaximum speed at 15,000 feet: 289 knots (333 mph) Cruising speed at 25,000 feet: 273 knots (313 mph)1.1 ObjectivesThe goal of this modification is to replace the current PT6A-42 engines on aircraft 801with the PT6A-52 model. The upgrade will increase the service ceiling, climb rate,maximum and cruising speeds, therefore increasing our research capabilities. 2.0 Location of Engine ChangeThe removal of the two PT6A-42 and installation of the new PT6A-52 engines shall beperformed at Dryden Flight Research Center. Note: The removed engines from aircraft 801 will later be installed on aircraft NASA 7.The removed engines from NASA 7 will be turned in to the vendor as core exchanges for thePT6A-52 engines. 3.0 Project Time PeriodRemoval of the -42 engines, a minor sheet metal modification, and installation of the twonew -52 engines shall take nine days. 4.0 Cost BreakdownNew PT6A-52 enginesLeased engines (two each) This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are beingrequested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to usethe On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above orit may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. Theinformation required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred)no later than June 19, 2009. Final proposals or quote are due no later than COB June 27,2009. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release ofamendments (if any).
