Description
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract in accordance to FAR 6.302-1(a)(i)(A), authorized or required by statue. The Research Department at the Providence VA Medical Center requires the ImageQuant 350 with Motorlens for interfacing with existing reagents and protocols in the lab for simplifying experiments. Under statue10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) Providence VA Medical Center intends to make a sole source award of this requirement to GE Healthcare. The proposed contract action is for a Digital Image Analysis System to be procured with research compatibility utilizing reagents and methods already established and being used in the Laboratory. This equipment stream-lines the processing of data from experiments by using a single system to image the gels and run quantitation analysis simultaneously without requiring the additional purchases of fluorescence or infrared antibodies to visualize blots. The Government intends to award to only one source (GE Healthcare) under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(i)(A). This specific model of medical equipment is available exclusively through the manufacturer. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation document is available. Contracting Office Address: Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, 830 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence, RI 02908 Point of Contact(s): Sandra Mosca, Contract Specialist 401-455-4907
