Description
TAS::57 3404::TAS ARRA XUMU 06-1023B, Repair California Blvd, Hwy 1 to Utah Ave, fully funded by Recovery Act. The intent of this project is to repair failed curb & gutter and asphalt from depressions at shoulders, Overlay. This project involves repaving California Blvd extending from Highway 1 to Utah. Included with repaving is the replacement of concrete curb and gutter, deep lift failed areas in the road, conform grinding, cold plane 2 to 4 inches over entire area of asphalt within the boundaries displayed. The existing 6 to 8 foot section of both shoulders will be over-excavated 22.5 inches in depth and 9 to 10 foot wide to meet needed stabilization back of curb as indicated from soils report. The area ranging from hwy 1 to the area where the road tapers down, will receive a Type II Slurry after minor asphalt repairs have been completed. Some asphalt & sub-grade material will be removed and replaced due to failures in the sub-grade transferring to the failure of the asphalt. After the repairs and cold plane grinding has been completed, California Blvd will be over-laid with 1-inch leveling course and petro-mat fabric over the top and then 2-inch finish course grade asphalt. Once the overlay has been completed then all utilities will be raised and striping will be installed to its original configuration. Basic Work Detail will include: Demolition, Asphalt Construction: remove damaged concrete curb & gutter; remove damaged asphalt; excavate unsuitable material; grind entire street; apply 1-inch leveler asphalt overlay; apply Petro-mat fabric; apply 2-inch minimum asphalt overlay; apply Type II Slurry; apply striping to new pavement to original configuration. Concrete: form and cast new curb and gutter. General: Option # 1, Repair failed Asphalt, Conform Grind, Overlay 2", Utah from California due east, 100 FT past Bldg 11777 Parking Lot. Scope of Work: This project is based on a taper conform grind on both sides of the road at the edge of the gutter pan and carrying out from California due east approximately 515 ft, the entire width of the road at the start and at the finish will be cold planed 30 to 40 ft in length to develop a smooth transition. Asphalt patching will involve removing failed asphalt in various locations and removing the unsuitable material beneath the asphalt to secure the section by placing marifi 600 stabilization fabric on the bottom and fill with 9 inches of class 2 base and 3 inches of asphalt compacted to 95% relative density. Once all the asphalt patching has been placed and held down 2 inches along the gutter pan, then a 2 inch overlay will be applied after a petro-mat membrane over the top of the existing surface is applied. All striping will be re-installed. Asphalt construction, Repair failed sub-grade: remove ac pavement; excavate unsuitable material; conform grind; stabilize sub-grade; install 3" deep lift ac pavement; Apply 2" minimum asphalt overlay, and apply striping to new pavement in original configuration.
