- Description
- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR SEALEDMICROFOCUS X-RAY SOURCE. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a writtenamendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions that were askedQuestion:1. We would like to know in what kind of enclosure the MicroFocus system will beinstalled i.e. Cabinet, Vault or ?Answer:The enclosure system will be a lead box enclosing the source with wall thicknessappropriate to handle radiation field.2. What are the requirements for sealed Microfocus X-Ray Source including vacuum, coolingsystem, high voltage generator, associated controller and software.Clarification: This is not a sealed type x-ray tube but demountable type.Answer: The word "sealed" will be changed to "demountable" by this modification.3. Microfocus spot size to 1 to 10 micron rangeAre you looking for a dual headed x-ray tube that allows you both thru transmission anddirectional? Directional type tubes do not allow for focal spots less than 3-5 micron.Answer: In Requirements Change to: Microfocus spot size LESS THAN 10 micronChange is the capitalized portion.4. Company will provide on-site installation with minor training within 1 week of receiptof system at MSFCQuestion: What type of facility or Radiation enclosure is this going into? What type of Safety interlock switch is available? Do you want a new one quoted? Is this replacing an existing Microfocus system? If so what type of mounting bracket will be available to mount the new tube head?Answer: There will be a lead enclosure to wrap around and enclose tube. This has beenanalyzed and sized for full output of this tube. When system is fully assembled, operation will be remote with room locked out. No new safety interlock to be quoted. Notreplacing anything, this is new. This tube will be positioned on a table with a plasticconnection to a collimator tube.5. Please confirm the kV?Answer: The maximum voltage is to be 225 kV6. Does the source have to be a sealed source or is an open tube/source acceptable? Answer: The tube is a demountable source, not sealed, solicitation is corrected by thismodification.7. Is the x-ray system "sealed" or is this a continuously pumped x-ray tube?Answer: This is a demountable tube. It has its own pump system included.8. The RFQ states the controller is a PLC based device, but the spec sheet seems toindicate a PC based controller, can you specify?Answer: There is a PLC controller included in the electronics control section. There isalso "user friendly" software that runs on PC. One can control x-ray source by talking toPLC controller direct with own software.9. The spec sheet states power consumption of "208/230 vac, single phase, 60 cps, 10amps max". A pumped device will use more power than this to operate at full x-raygeneration. Is this spec correct?Answer: The power consumption of 10 amps on 208/230 volt source is correct.10. There appears not to be any mounting guidelines, will the unit be mounted by NASApersonnel?Answer: Unit will be mounted by NASA personnel.11. Is this equipment being purchased to replace an existing x-ray set?Answer: This is a new requirement. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.
