- Curation of Archaeological Collection - Intent to Sole Source NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT TO THE University of Alaska Museum, Archaeological Repository, Fairbanks Campus PO Box 756960, Fairbanks AK 99775, for the curation of an archaeological collection from Forest lands on Prince of Wales Island, within the JUN-013 excavation site (a.k.a. Homeshore) UNDER AUTHORITY OF FAR 13.106-1(b). The US Forest Service, Tongass National Forest, intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order to the University of Alaska Museum to curate archaeological materials in a facility that meets the requirements of 36 CFR 79. The University of Alaska – Fairbanks meets the federal requirements for long-term curation of archaeological collections. The number of facilities that meet 36 CFR 79 in Alaska are limited; several are not accepting new collections at this time. It is the US Forest Service’s position that this collection should be maintained by a university that specializes in repository of Arctic and Alpine Research collections. Total estimated value of the purchase order is $19,750. This Notice of Intent is not a request for proposals or quotations. No solicitation document exists. No contract award will be made on the basis of any Expressions of Interest (EOIs), proposals or quotations received in response to this notice. The anticipated award date is June 29, 2009. The expected date the complete collection will be turned over is July 1, 2009. The applicable NAICS code for this requirement is: 712110.
