Description
In compliance with the transparency and accountability requirements associated with the supplemental appropriations provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the 'Act'), Public Law 111-5, this notice is provided for INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The Department of Interior, U.G. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to modify established contract number 08CRCN0053 awarded to Synergetics Incorporated to include provisions and requirements for the Act. The project described below is within scope of the existing contract, which was originally awarded on a competitive basis. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO THE INCUMBANT CONTRACTOR. The Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) is a major national initiative led by the US Geological Survey that serves the needs of the earthquake monitoring, engineering, and research communities as well as national, state, and local governments, emergency response organizations, and the general public. The ANSS will automatically broadcast timely and authoritative products describing the occurrence of earthquakes, earthquake source properties, the distribution of ground shaking, and, where feasible, broadcast early warnings and alerts for the onset of strong ground shaking. Most importantly, the ANSS will provide earthquake data, derived products, and information to the public, emergency responders, officials, engineers, educators, researchers, and other ANSS partners rapidly and in forms that are useful for their needs. This requirement is to provide technical support services for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Central Geologic Hazards Team (CGHT). The types of tasks required include geology, geophysics, seismology, all aspects of computer management and computer database development, computer network support, WEB page design, computer system maintenance and support, technical writing, GIS (geographical information system) analysis and data entry. The method used for this acquisition was a competitive 8(a) set aside. The maximum dollar amount shall not exceed $7.5 million over the life of this contract, including all option years. Task orders will be issued on a firm fixed price basis. The period of performance is a base year of twelve months and four twelve month option periods. This contract is currently in the base year with a period of performance of September 19, 2008 through September 18, 2009. The place of performance is Golden, Colorado. Full or partial funding for requirements to be completed by resultant task orders may utilize funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Inclusion of unique provisions required to implement the Act, including those for significant reporting and transparency requirements by Synergetics Incorporated, will be incorporated into this contract by Modification Two.
