Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Carestream Health, Inc., Molecular Imaging Systems, 4 Science Park West, New Haven, CT 06511, for a Kodak Image Station 4000MM Pro Imaging System, with PC and Network. This equipment is necessary due to the following specifications that meet the need of The Biologics Branch Quality Assurance Program: Quantitative imaging of luminescent, multi-wavelength fluorescent, radiographic and colorimetric labeled biomolecules in a variety of formats including blots, electrophoresis gels, Petri plates and microtiter plates; thermo-electrically cooled CCD camera with digital image acquisition at 16-bits per capture and n-bit image file/data accumulations; closed loop cooling system maintains constant low temperature below -28°C and is not dependent on ambient laboratory conditions; interlined CCD sensor with 4 mega-pixel resolution (2048 x 2048 pixels), resolution at full zoom = 10μ/pixel; computer controlled 10X parfocal zoom lens with sample imaging area (min) = 2 x 2 cm and sample imaging area (max) = 20 x 20 cm; COPI™ (Closed Optical Path Image) chamber design which: provides enclosed optical path and protects the camera and imaging path from laboratory environment dirt, debris or contamination, and minimizes the distance from the camera to the sample, reducing signal scatter and increasing detection sensitivity and quantitative accuracy; selectable multi-wavelength illumination provides a choice of optimal excitation light for a much wider range of fluorochromes and sample types: 175 watt high intensity xenon illuminator, fiber optic guided epi-illumination, selectable multi-wavelength excitation filter wheel; selectable multi-wavelength fluorescence from blue to near IR (370nm-770nm); and 10 position filter slider; automated 4-position emission filter wheel, Carestream Health’s proprietary Wide Angle (WA) Emission Filters eliminates common imaging artifacts and matched with filter sets support a wide range of fluorochromes. (Filter Sets Example Fluorochromes: Ex 470 Em 535 WA (GFP, Cy2, fluorescein, Syber Gr., Alexa 488), Ex 630 Em 700 WA (Cy 5.5, Cy 5.0, Alexa 660. Alexa 680), Ex 470 Em 600 WA (Sypro Ruby, Q DotsTM,), Ex 530, Em 600 WA (EtBr, Cy 3, DsRed,TAMRA, Alexa 546), Ex 530, Em 670 WA (Sypro Red), Ex 630, Em 670 WA (Cy 5.0,Alexa 633, BODIPYTM 630&650), Ex 730, Em 790 WA (Alexa 750, IR700), Ex 730, Em 830 WA (IR 800); luminescence imaging provides equal to better sensitivity than most films, with greater dynamic range; white light imaging using ambient light, ideal for imaging colorimetric gels and assays; direct 32P and other high energy radioisotope signal detection with the CCD camera through the use of the optional Radio isotopic Phosphor Screen accessory; optional Transillumination Lid provides UV and white light transillumination; upgradeable to in vivo imaging systems for small animals including X-ray imaging capabilities; single/Multiple Capture, Time Lapse, and Progressive Capture imaging modes available; X and/or Y binning options (2X, 4X, 8X and 16X) allow for up to a 64-fold increase in signal intensity; predict mode automatically and quickly predicts optimal exposure time; auto focus algorithm adjusts for varying sample formats; automatic Dark Current Correction – no separate images need to be taken; automatic or stored Illumination Correction capability for both white light and UV-illuminated samples; flat-field (vignetting) correction capability, user selectable automatic geometric/warping correction factor application; image file capture options include individual images, each accumulation, final accumulation, and intermediate images; history file that stores exact imaging conditions and alterations made to image file; includes (3) single user packages or an optional upgrade of a 3 seat network version of KODAK Molecular Imaging Analysis software, version 4.0 or higher with auto lane and band finding, curved lane set compensation, Gaussian deconvolution, automated mass, molecular weight and intensity measurements, region of interest (ROI) measurements, grid analysis, template capability, colony counting, non-destructive annotations, enhanced image display controls, N-bit file support, floating point calculation, image math, built-in standards file, standards graphing, report printing, network versions, and file history; works with Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional or MAC (OS 10.3.8 or higher) based computer system. Essential criteria are the closed optical path-COP1, radioisotope imaging, 4 megapixel and True 16 bit off chip, and excitation and emission wavelengths from 380-830, and imaging with taller lid. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2. Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business. For contractual questions contact Linda M. Young.
