- The responses to this Request For Information (RFI) will be used for informational purposes only. Information designated as "Public Doman" represents data that will be shared with industry via posting to the FAA Contracting Opportunities database. Information designated as "Company Proprietary" is information that will be shared internally by the FAA only. (Note: The FAA will not release or make public information deemed "Company Proprietary".) This RFI is not intended to guarantee procurement of a product and shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to enter into a contract. This is not a Screening Information Request (SIR) or Request For Proposal (RFP). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will not pay for any information received or costs incurred in preparing the responses to this market survey or activities contained herein. Therefore, any costs associated with this submission are solely at the interested vendor's expense. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) NEXCOM program is requesting industry feedback with regard to commercially available Very High Frequency (VHF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) radio equipment and how it may fit into the overall FAA mission. This equipment would be used to provide voice communications between ground facilities and aircraft in the Terminal and Flight Services environments. Description of RFI Components The FAA has existing VHF and UHF radio requirements and is making them available in the form of draft Product Descriptions as part of this request. As a result of reviewing current Product Descriptions for the upcoming procurement questions have arisen and are presented in "Attachment 1: Potential VHF and UHF Radio Requirements" for industry response. These questions apply to both the VHF and UHF radios. Responses to questions will be designated "Public Domain". These questions describe potential capabilities and functions that are being considered as potential requirements for NEXCOM Segment 2 VHF and UHF radios. Please complete "Attachment 2: VHF and UHF Radio Equipment Capabilities" indicating whether the capability in question can be met without modifying existing equipment. Responses to this document will be designated "Company Proprietary". Attachments 3 and 4 are draft Product Descriptions for future VHF and UHF Receivers and Transmitters. "Attachment 5: Site Control and Monitoring" requests information on radio monitor and control features. Responses to this document will be designated "Company Proprietary". How to Respond to this RFI The following timeline applies for inquiries and responses to this RFI: 1.Vendor inquiries must be submitted received no later than 2 pm, EDT on July 3, 2009.2.FAA responses to vendor inquiries will be provided by July 17, 2009. FAA responses will be provided by Ken Carter to the submitting vendor. 3.Vendor responses must be received no later than 2 pm, EDT on August 7, 2009.4.All vendor responses to Attachment 1 will be consolidated and posted for review on August 31, 2009.
