He has also been associated with both the NCI and the DCP in a variety of roles for many years. In order to do an evaluation, we need someone who knows and understands the external review evaluation process as well as the Division programs and staff. Dr. Kaluzny has this expertise and understanding. His research has focused on organizational factors affecting program implementation and change in a variety of health care organizations, with specific emphasis given to cancer treatment and prevention and control, continuous quality improvement initiatives in both organizational and primary care settings, and most recently, the study of alliances within health care. In all these endeavors, a major focus has been to strengthen the science base of policy and practice. He has worked closely with the Division as a consultant on restructuring the organization. Dr. Kaluzny has offered expert advice to the DCP for many years. Specifically, he has conducted an internal review of the DCP OSRGs that administer the DCP Early Phase Clinical Trials Consortia Program and thus already has a working knowledge of the program.
