- Description
- Contractor to install a new, fully functional Fire Alarm System at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System's Castle Point Campus. Construction will include, but not be limited to the following: Electrical, Mechanical and Fire Protection, as well as, ITEM I, The work include the installation of a new central fire command center located in fire department headquarters located in Building 8. The also work includes the installation new networked addressable fire alarm control panels; addressable fire alarm devices consisting of smoke detectors, HVAC duct smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual fire alarm stations, interface monitoring modules, interface control modules, CO gas detectors (residential Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 45 and 46), pressure switches for gravity tank water level monitoring; audio notifications appliances consisting of wall mounted fire alarm speakers (Buildings 15E, 15H, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 111) and wall mounted fire alarm horns (all other buildings); visual notification appliances consisting of wall mounted ADA compliant strobes. All new fire equipment within the buildings shall be wired using EMT and rigid conduit (where designated). Existing fire alarm conduit may be re-used only in designated buildings. Each fire alarm control panel shall be programmed to work independently of all other fire alarm control panels. All fire alarm control panels and the fire command center and all associated equipment shall be provided with an independent 24 hour backup standby power supply. The work also includes the complete removal of all the existing fire alarm systems including wiring, conduit, fire alarm devices, and all other associated equipment. The existing buildings fire alarm systems will remain in service while the new fire alarm system is installed within each building. Item II, A new fiber optic network data communication system shall be installed between each of the fire alarm control panels and the fire command center located in Building 8. The new fiber optic data communication network shall be installed entirely in conduit and will require the installation of underground duct banks between certain buildings. Existing data and signal communication duct banks between buildings which are available can be utilized. The new fiber optic network will be installed as the first phase of this project and will be operational prior to installing the fire alarm systems in each building. ITEM III, The contractor shall provide a phasing plan in accordance with the recommended phasing work described in other sections of these specifications and shall be aware that work will be performed also during off hours and weekends due to buildings currently being occupied. Buildings included in this contract are as follows Buildings 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,13,15E,15H,16,17,18,19,20,21,35,36,41,44,45,46,57,80,82,88,89,92,100,101,111,113.
