Description
The purpose of this amendment 1 to synopsis/solicitation 1 is to answer questions. Please continue to submit your questions via email. Due date for proposals remains as 06/25 at 11 AM EST. Question: I have a question about the dealer/manufacturer relationship. The specifications call for a minimum of ten (10) years. Does this necessarily disqualify us? Answer: No, the evaluation criteria take many things into account. Be sure to include information about the dealer/manufacturer relationship, including an explanation of why you do not meet the specification. Question: Are there any dealers already involved in any of the design decisions or formulating the specs? Answer: This is a Secret Service requirement and will be evaluated by Secret Service personnel only. Question: The specification calls for a "solid wood table" - is that correct?? The picture that you show is of a wood veneer top table and for the majority of conference tables that are available on the market today, a particleboard core is typically standard. Solid core would make this table extremely heavy and expensive. Could you confirm either way. Answer: The table can be solid wood or not- both table locations are on the lower levels of the buildings and do not have any weight restrictions, however, due to the electronic components that we would like to be integral to the table, various substrates may be used, such as medium or high density fiberboard or plywood, but NOT particleboard. Question: In the spec it says "tables may pull apart" so we wanted to see if the attached type of concealment is acceptable? Answer: Secret Service will consider all solutions and one type of acceptable table is provided. Your proposal will be evaluated pursuant to the criteria described; in order to maintain a level playing field for all competitors, photos submitted will not be evaluated unless part of a proposal. Question: I noticed a change that is a bit disturbing to me. The change is as follows: *The Manufacturer/Dealer shall be located within ten (10) miles of the Washington, DC facility and have personnel that can provide immediate on-site assistance at every phase, including, but not limited to: product selection/specification, design, procurement, technical issues, shipping, and installation. This was changed from the original that stated that the manufacturer or dealer "shall have a representative within" the same distance. This changes thing dramatically, as we know that there is probably no more than one dealer within the given 10 miles of the location! I am asking for the bid date to be extended then and the specs revised if possible. Answer: The requirement for location of the manufacturer/dealer throughout the synopsis/solicitation is for a representative to be located within ten miles. Question: I need to know where the installation site is located. I need this information as our product is sold by Dealers throughout the country. I noted on the solicitation the zip code 20223 but am not sure if this is where the product is going. Answer: Both conference tables will be located in zip code 20223 which is within Washington, DC.
