Description
The Larch Creek Trail Restoration and Construction project consists of work items covering approximately 20,444 meters of trail. Work will be 238.5 meters of clearing & grubbing, 230.5 meters of excavation and embankment, 148 new grade dips, 5 new reverse grade dips, 4 meters of rock barrier streamford, 10 meters of new ditch, 43 meters turnpike construction, 2,965 meters of existing trail restoration, 292 grades dip restoration, 29 meters of ditch restoration, 83 waterbar restoration, 179 meters of turnpike restoration, 5 new culvert installations, 50 new log waterbars, 1 rock waterbar, 1 rock spillway, and 11 meters of trail closure. This project will require blasting, special blasting requirements and procedures contained herein and blaster must possess current Washington State certification and Commercial Drivers License to use and transport explosives. Pack and saddle stock used for laborer transport, packing supplies and equipment are restricted to drop camps. Only commercial weed free pellet or equivalent feed is allowed for this project (hay is not allowed). Forest Service Standard Specifications and Drawings contained in EM-7720-103 and EM-7720-104 shall be followed for this project. The beginning of the project can be reached by travelling west from Winthrop, Washington on State Route 20 for approximately 16 miles, then north and west at Mazama junction Lost River Road (County Road #9140). Take Forest Road #5400 (Harts Pass Road) for 12.3 miles to Harts Pass, continue past the Guard Station for (estimate) 1.25 to the Buckskin Ridge. The trailhead is located on the second switchback beyond the Guard Station. The entire project is within the Pasayten Wilderness and motorized or mechanical equipment will not be allowed. All Wilderness rules will apply. The Government Estimate is between $25,000 and $100,000. It is anticipated the solicitation with complete scope of work, specifications, drawings and maps will be issued and posted on 7/8/09.
