Description
The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the Replacement of the Glide Slope Facility on Runway 22R at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract clauses, drawings, and specifications. Work under this project consists of, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Construction of a 12' x 16' wood frame Glide Slope equipment shelter on reinforced concrete foundation. 2. Installation of electrical equipment, junction boxes, and HVAC items in the shelter. 3. Construction of two 4" GRS ducts from existing power handhole and one 4" duct from the existing fiber optics handhole outside the existing 22R GS shelter to new Glide Slope equipment shelter. 4. Installation of power cables in new duct from existing electric power handhole to new step-down transformer in new shelter to distribution panel main breaker. Installation of power cables in new duct from existing electric power handhole to new step-up transformer in new shelter to power existing Runway 22R PAPI. Splice to existing power cables feeding existing Glide Slope shelter and existing Runway 22R PAPI in electric power handhole. 5. Construction of a reinforced concrete foundation for the Glide Slope antenna tower. 6. Erection of antenna tower, mounting of antenna elements and mounting channels, installation of climbing ladder and safety-climb rail, and installation of conduits overhead to junction boxes. Obstruction light operation required prior to dusk. 7. Installation of tower lightning protection, bonding, and perimeter grounding system. 8. Relocate of existing RVR visibilty sensor and equipment cabinet to new equipment rack and mast. Remove existing mast, foundation, equipment rack, rack foundation, and gravel plot. Restore site with applicable compacted fill, dress with topsoil, seed, and blend to match surrounding grade. 9. Installation of power and control cables in separate 2" grs conduits from shelter power panel and control junction box to new RVR rack location. 10. Installation of inner ducts with a fiber optic single-mode cable and tracer wire through existing unoccupied 4" conduit in existing duct bank from PAR Bldg. through existing duct bank to handhole outside the 22R GS shelter and continuing in new 4" duct bank to new 22R GS shelter fiber termination box. 11. Installation of single-mode 12 strand fiber through one of the two existing unoccupied inner ducts from the new 22R GS shelter fiber termination box through existing duct bank to the Runway 4L Localizer shelter. 12. Installation of fiber optics termination blocks in existing termination boxes at Runway 4L Localizer shelter and PAR shelter, installation of fiber termination equipment with two termination blocks in junction box in new 22R GS shelter, and termination and testing of fiber optics cable. Contractor shall provide cable loss data for fiber after termination. 13. Removal of existing fiber optic cables after new cable is tested and the transition to the new cable is accomplished. 14. Construction of asphalt paved access road and parking area. 15. Removal of the existing Runway 22R Glide Slope shelter and antenna tower and complete removal of associated concrete foundations. Removal of existing concrete access road and turnaround area. Grading and seeding of site to match surrounding terrain. The work will be performed in strict accordance with the contract drawings and specifications. Contract performance time is 60 calendar days, with an anticipated start date of August 17, 2009. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $250,000 and $500,000. NAICS is 237990. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT. General contractors must submit their interest in subject project on company letterhead and should include the firm's name, address, telephone number, fax number, email address, and point of contact by no later than July 8, 2009, 2:00 p.m. (CT).
