Description
The FAA intends to solicit and award a firm-fixed price contract for the Replacement of the Glide Slope Facility on Runway 04R at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract clauses, drawings, and specifications. Work under this project consists of, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Construction of a 12' x 16' wood frame Glide Slope equipment shelter on reinforced concrete foundation. 2. Installation of electrical equipment, junction boxes, and HVAC items in the shelter. 3. Construction of a 5" PVC concrete-encased duct from existing pad-mounted transformer at Rwy 32L middle marker site to 25 KVA transformer at new GS site. Installation of reinforced concrete transformer pad per COMED specifications. COMED representatives will install primary cable, set transformer, and terminate conductors in transformer cases. 4. Installation of power cables in 2" grsc from transformer to distribution panel main breaker in new shelter. 5. Construction of a reinforced concrete foundation for the Glide Slope antenna tower. 6. Erection of antenna tower, mounting of antenna elements and mounting channels, installation of climbing ladder and safety-climb rail, and installation of conduits overhead to junction boxes. Obstruction light operation required prior to dusk. 7. Installation of tower lightning protection, bonding, and perimeter grounding system. 8. Installation of power and control cables in separate 2" grs conduits from shelter power panel and control junction box to existing RVR rack location. Intercept existing pvc duct and extend to new shelter. 9. Installation of 3" pvc-coated grsc 24" below grade min. to new GS shelter's control junction box from existing electric hand hole north of site. 10. Installation of 6 pr 19 AWG (Rwy 32L middle marker) and 25 pr 19 AWG (from RTR "A") control cables and 6 AWG THWN grounding conductor in new duct and termination of cable on termination blocks in new GS shelter's control junction box and splicing of control cables in existing electric hand hole north of site. 11. Installation of a 3" pvc-coated grsc 24" below grade min. to new shelter's control junction box from existing electric hand hole south of site. 12. Install 25 pr 19 AWG control cable and splice to existing 25 pr 19 AWG control cable existing electric hand hole south of site. 13. Relocation of step-up transformer and disconnect switch and replacement of power cables and 6 pr 19 AWG control cable in existing duct bank to ASDE-X site #8. 14. Installation of power cables in 1" pvc-coated rgsc from power panel to existing weather station (airport-owned). 15. Termination and testing of control cables on termination blocks in new control junction box per specifications. 16. Construction of crushed rock plot and parking area. 17. Demolition and removal of the existing Runway 04R Glide Slope shelter and antenna tower and complete removal of associated concrete foundations. 18. Removal of existing asphalt maintenance plot and signal forming area. Placing compacted fill in excavated areas, grading and seeding of site to match surrounding terrain. The work will be performed in strict accordance with the contract drawings and specifications. Contract performance time is 60 calendar days, with an anticipated start date of August 17, 2009. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. NAICS is 237990. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT. General contractors must submit their interest in subject project on company letterhead and should include the firm's name, address, telephone number, fax number, email address, and point of contact by no later than July 8, 2009, 2:00 p.m. (CT).
