- Description
- Project Details: This project provides pavement preservation of the paved surfaces in the North Rim Section of Grand Canyon National Park. Grand Canyon National Park is located in Coconino County of Arizona in the northwest portion of Arizona. Option X of this Project provides for the preservation of the South Rim portion of Grand Canyon National Park. Currently, funds are not available for this portion of the work. This option should be held open for 60 days pending the availability of funds. The preservation treatments being used are chip seals and modified slurry seals. Other construction applications used on a lesser scale are pavement patching, crack sealing and pavement markings. The North Rim Project, Schedule A, has approximately 430,000 square yard of chip seal and 70,000 square yards of modified slurry seal. Included in the Project will be approximately 450 square yards of pavement patching in locations designated by the Project Engineer prior to placement of the preservation treatments. The work on the South Rim, if funded, includes 725,000 square yards of chip seals and 359,000 square yards of modified slurry seals. This work would also include approximately 8,000 square yards of pavement patching. This project uses American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Advertisement is anticipated mid-July 2009. The contracting range for this project (considering the schedule and each option) is between $2 million and $11 million.
