- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for:A precision measurement Laser Tracker X system centered around our existing CAM2 MeasureX software will be augmented with a Quantum 7-axis, 6 foot, measurement arm which has ameasurement accuracy of &lt; 0.0011 inch within a 6 ft volume. The system shallcommunicate to the software on the laptop over Bluetooth. The arm shall also accommodatea Laser Line Probe to perform non-contact measurements with a single point accuracy of&lt; +/- 0.021 inch within a 6 foot volume. A magnetic mount and rolling stand shall beincluded for mounting the arm, in addition to a control base plate which also mounts asupport arm for the existing controlling laptop computer. Finally, a variety of highaccuracy probes for the arm and a portable heavy duty case shall be provided.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from FARO Technologies, Inc. It is ourunderstanding that FARO Technologies is the only vendor that can provide a laser trackerarm, laser line probe, and accessories which augments an existing FARO Laser Tracker XSystem currently in place.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.The authority isFAR 13.106(b)(1) only one source reasonably available. DO Rating is DO-C9. This synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by theGovernment, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited.Questions regarding this acquisition must be directed to the attention of Nadja Hardy viae-mail at nadja.hardy@nasa.gov or via facsimile at (301) 286-0794 by 4:00PM ET on07/06/2009.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00PM EST on07/10/2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. It is thequoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments. Potentialquoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice.A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon reponses to this notice, is solely within the discretion ofthe Government.Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice.An ombudsman has been appointed.
