Description
Ship Name: USNS Mount Whitney (LCC-20) Ship’s Location: Gaeta, Italy INTENT OF THIS ITEM: Mechanical and Electrical Repairs to the HP Turbine, 1A Ship’s Service Turbine Gerator’s and 1A1, 1A2, 1B1, and 1B2 Forced Draft Blower’s The USS Mount Whitney’s HP Turbine, 1A Ship’s Service Turbine Generator (SSTG) and 1A1, 1A2, 1B1 and 1B2 Forced Draft Blowers require repairs to be accomplished to return them to a “Class B” Condition. The major mechanical repairs involve significant work to the Rotor, Diaphragm Blades, and High Speed Coupling for the HP Turbine and Reduction Gear for the 1A Steam Turbine for the 1A SSTG. The major electrical repairs required involve replacement of the Generator Rotor for 1A SSTG. Accomplishing the repairs will improve the reliability of the Mount Whitney’s Main Propulsion Plant and Main Power Generation Plant. This will increase the vessels ability to accomplish it’s mission requirements. This work requires a high level of specialized knowledge and experience with the repair of Steam Turbines, Reduction Gears and Generators. Successful offeror must possess current Agreement for Boat Repair with Naval Sea Systems Command in order to receive award. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued on/about 29 June 2009.
