- Description
- NASA/Kennedy Space Center is seeking sources and potential equipment withcapability to provide the transfer of liquid/gaseous helium commodity to gaseous forminto pressure vessel receivers at 6000 psig pressure. The intent is to provide heliumtransfer capability by a mobile system with targeted flow rate at a minimum of 500 SCFM. The current and favorable methodology for hydrogen and inert gases being transferred athigh pressure and multiple locations is through the use of mobile cryogenic liquid-to-gasconverter / pumper units to recharge end-user storage vessels. These recharger / pumperunits consist of a cryogenic liquid dewar (2000 gal capacity), high pressure liquidcryogenic pump, and vaporizer for conversion of liquid to gas.The key technology orunderlying principle behind a potential mobile helium converter-pumper / recharger isbased on the successful development of a liquid helium pump. However, other methods forconsideration include, but are not limited to: gas intensifiers, compressors, and liquidexpanders. Brief written statements of interest and citations of relevant relatedbackground should be received by COB, July 20, 2009 and should be identified with theabove title and OP-OS-01A. No solicitation exists, this is not a Request for Proposal;therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released itwill be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is thepotential offerors responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of anysolicitation or synopsis.
