Description
The purposes of this amendment are to (a) extend the closing date until July 6, 2009, 5:00 PM Eastern Time and (b) to answer recent questions regarding the solicitation or concerns from interested parties. The following questions have been submitted, and answers are provided as “Response” below each question. 1. In the solicitation, NIST only makes mention of raw clock speed and core count, but for instance, an Intel Nehalem will process significantly more IPCs than an Intel Penryn or AMD Istanbul. Do you have any performance metrics that you are trying to achieve, and if so, what are they? Response: The specification given is the minimum requirement per node. 2. You specify minimum raw disk space but do not mention whether that raw disk space will be acceptable as JBODs or if arrays are desired. We need clarification on this point in particular before proceeding with a configuration quotation/RFI submission. Response: The raw disk space disks shall be JBOD in each node. 3. You state in your response to “vendor question no. 3”: What is the rational for 1.5TB SATA desktop-class hard drive? Is this a requirement or would you consider others? NIST Response: The 1.5TB SATA desktop-class is a minimum specification; enterprise class drives are not required. However, will enterprise class drives be acceptable if they meet or exceed your minimum requirements? Response: Yes. 4. How critical is node operating system data integrity? Is OS redundancy desirable or unnecessary? Response: Node operating system data integrity is not necessary. 5. What is the required length of the network cables? Response: The required length for the network cables is 6 feet.
