Description
The Huntington VA Medical Center, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is pre-soliciting qualified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses in construction to provide labor, materials, transportation, equipment and supervision to inspect, upgrade, and certify the lightning protection system for the VA Medical Center. All work shall be completed within 120 days after the notice to proceed. The NAICS code is 238290 Other Building Equipment Contractors; small business size is $14 million. The estimated dollar amount of this procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. Expect the solicitation to be posted with uploaded drawings and specifications on/or about 15 July 09. No hard copies provided. Pre-bid/walk-through is scheduled for 4 August 09 at 10:00am EDT, only one will be offered to interested parties and will be held at bldg 8 (Logistics and Engineering). Bid opening will be on/or about 19 August 09. And the deadline for receipt of questions is 10 August 09. Firms must be registered at Central Contractor Registry and at Vet Biz and Online Representations and Certifications must be completed by each bidder prior to the bid opening. Work includes conductor continuity, surge protection and impedance testing of all existing circuits. Repair existing lightning protection systems and damaged surface mounted devices. Tighten all clamps, connector's and splices; replace corrosive or weakened clamps and splicers. Install new lightning protection where additional or altered structures have been installed. Test grounding electrodes (rods) and soils for resistivity as required to meet all NFPA 780 code requirements for Lightning protection for certifications. Work includes other certain items.
