Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse, Office of Acquisition, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorder and Stroke (NINDS) intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase order to Ionscope Limited, A2 Ash House, Melbourn Science Park, Cambridge Road, Melbourn, SG8 6HB, UK for the purchase of ICnano Scanning Ion Conductance Microscopy. National Institute of Neurological Disorder and Stroke will be using the scanning ion conductance microscope for the study of synaptic vesicle fusion and retrieval, a signaling process fundamental to the function of the nervous system. The spatial and time resolution of this microscope is essential to NINDS study. This scanning ion conductance microscope is composed of two parts, a mixed mode and a pipette scanning mode. The mixed mode allows for a scan resolution of 1-5 nm at a speed of 10 ms per pixel, whereas the pipette scanning mode allow for simultaneous scanning and whole-cell electrophysiology recordings. IonScope Limited is the only company which provides such a high spatial and time resolution for the scanning ion conductance microscope in the world. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 13 procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number 1133567 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Bldg 31, Room 1B59, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2080 and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist.
