Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center, Clay Center, NE, intends to enter into a single source contract with Sequenom, San Diego, CA for the purchase of a used MassARRAY COMPACT SYSTEM with server, MassARRAY LT Nanodispenser Samsung along with liquid handling systems necessary for hME chemistry assays. We need this instrumentation to continue our research in livestock genomics and develop genetic marker systems for the livestock industry. The MassARRAY SNP assay system was developed by Sequenom, Inc. and a fully integrated set of instruments necessary to utilize this technology can only be purchased through Sequenom. The MassARRAY technology is particularly well suited for rapid and economical SNP marker development. The initial cost to develop new assays is minimal while allowing efficient multiplexing of assays and easily regrouping assays to customize assay groups for specific animal populations. In addition, this technology is quite robust, yields extremely accurate data and is the preferred technology for data collection on 50-300 SNP markers across 100-2,000 animals. Sequenom is the sole supplier of the MassARRAY genotyping systems and there are no independent vendors that provide viable alternatives. Other interested parties may submit questions and/or qualifications statements by Close of Business July 14, 2009.
