Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)-Iowa City, is soliciting and intends to award a firm fixed price contract to provide all professional, technical and investigative services including all labor, tools, equipment required to prepare and provide working drawings and specifications, contract documents, reviews, estimates, reproduction of bid documents, construction period services, final inspections, as-built drawings and other items for the general construction project, Upgrade Electrical System, at the VAMC in Iowa City, IA. The NAICS Code for this acquisition is 541330(Engineering Services) and the applicable Small Business Size Standard for this NAICS is $4.5 million. Award is subject to the availability of funds. The scope of work for this project shall include but not limited to design services for upgrading the existing electrical system at the VAMC Iowa City, IA The Architect-Engineer contract will include investigative services, contract documents with reviews, estimates, reproduction of bid documents, construction period services, final inspections, as-built drawings and other items. The design will require evaluation of the existing electrical system in the medical center for code compliance, functionality, and load distribution. Issues identified will be in priority order based upon criticality of issue. Contract documents will be developed after consulting with the VAMC staff. The Iowa City VAMC was originally built in the 1950s with additions and remodeling at various times. The main hospital is 15 stories in height, with diverse departments such as Primary Care, ICU, Surgery, patient wards, etc. The outbuildings include boiler plant, chiller plant, and various administrative buildings. Recent electrical projects completed include replacing emergency generators, main incoming electrical distribution to the facility, and the main hospitals switchgear Estimated construction cost range is between $250,000 and $500,000. Area of consideration: firms must be located within 150 mile radius of the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, IA.
